Once you have booked our villa for your Roatan vacation we provide you with a copy of our own 24 page document we call "Notes to Guests" that should help you plan your vacation. Roatan is one of the top snorkeling and scuba diving spots in the world, and The Meridian is located on one of the most beautiful spots on the island. Walk the 680 feet of beachfront, from the sandy beach to the famous 'Iron Shore' were you might spot hummingbirds, the local toucan, lizards or iguanas. You can even plan to have your wedding on the grounds, ask us for more information. A ten minute walk east from The SandBarr and you will be on West Bay Beach, one of the nicest in the Caribbean. Rent an umbrella and lounge chair or set up your towel and relax in the sugar white sand. Restaurants and bars line the beach, and happy hour is available at most places. You can rent paddleboards, jet skis, parasail, play on the huge inflatable slide / play structure, go fishing, or catch a water taxi to West End from West Bay Beach. Roatan is one of three main islands that make up the Bay Islands: Roatan, Utila and Guanaja. Roatan is located off the northern coast of Honduras in the Caribbean Sea. Roatan is the most populated island and the most visited by tourists.

There are car rental agencies in the airport terminal - Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport (RTB). Check the Dollar or Avis Car Rental websits directly for rates. We find competitive rates on www.expedia.com We can recommend local drivers that can pick you up from the airport with a stop at the grocery store before arriving at The SandBarr. We provide you with the contact information once you have booked our villa for your vacation, it is in our "Notes to Guests" that we provide.
The closest grocery store to The SandBarr is found in Coxen Hole. The Plaza del Mar or Eldons has a good variety of food. It is not like shopping in the USA or Canada but we found the selection to be satisfying. We usually shop at Eldons, they have a fantastic selection of foods and you might be surprised to see some North American brands available for purchase. You are able to buy beer and wine at Eldons too. Be advised that there is a sales tax of 12% on all purchases, hotels are required to charge a 7% tourism tax on top of the 12% ISV tax - making it a 19% tax on nightly rates. There is also an alcohol tax (in bars and restaurants) of 15% as well as 15% on cigars. If you book your vacation through us we supply you with a 24 page document of "Notes to Guests" that we provide upon booking. We also are available for any questions you may have regarding planning your vacation in Roatan. Once you arrive in Roatan, you will have to go through security and your luggage will go through one last x-ray. The process takes a bit of time but you are now on Island Time. Make sure you fill out the required documents on the airplane before you land this will make sure that going through customs easier and hopefully quicker. You can expedite your entry into Roatan by completing the online immigration forms before you go. This process is detailed in our "Notes to Guests".
